AVA Morocco – Education and Community Support (Atlas Villages Association for Education

and Community Support) is a legally constituted Association in Morocco that has been

formed to help children in the rural villages of the Atlas Mountains complete their

education.

 

Research has shown that:

– only 50% of students enrolled in middle school will continue to high school

– less than 15% of first grade students will graduate from high school

(https://www.usaid.gov/morocco/education)

– the literacy rate, youth total (% of people ages 15-24) in Morocco was 81.51% as of 2014

(National Education Profile 2014 Update)

– the literacy rate, adult total (% of people ages 15 and above) in Morocco was 67.08% as of

2014 (National Education Profile 2014 Update)

– in 2014 63% of children aged between 12 and 17 were out of education

(not attending school) in rural areas (National Education Profile 2014 Update)

 

As well as the educational element, AVA Morocco also aims to support local communities by

helping them develop their infrastructure, building and maintaining permanent irrigation

channels, creating permanent water supplies plus many other methods of support.
